What it's like to work with me: A step-by-step guide to your next photo session with Solene Jaspard Photography

2/27/2025

Curious about what it’s like to book a photography session with me? Whether you're planning a family, couple, or maternity shoot, this blog will guide you through every step—from your first inquiry to receiving your beautifully edited photos. My goal is to make the experience seamless, stress-free, and enjoyable so you can focus on creating memories while I capture them!

1- The Inquiry

You’ve browsed my portfolio, you like my style and now you’re ready to tell me more about your project. I’m so glad! The next step is to fill out my contact form.

Maybe you’re not entirely sure what you’re looking for ("I’m pregnant and want a maternity photoshoot to cherish this special time, but I have no idea what my options are! Help!"), or perhaps you already have a specific vision in mind ("I’m pregnant and want a maternity session in a field of wildflowers at sunset!"). Either way, I’m here to guide you! Feel free to share as many details as you’d like about the vibe you’re envisioning so I can tailor suggestions that bring your vision to life.

You’re also welcome to ask any questions you have about pricing, availability, or anything else. I’ll get back to you promptly with answers and/or a quote. In some cases, I may need to ask a few additional questions before being able to provide a final price.

2- Confirming Your Session

If everything looks good and you're ready to book, I’ll send you a link to my booking website where you can choose a date for your session.

You'll then be prompted to:

  • Sign a contract

  • Answer a few questions about your session (so I can be fully prepared)

  • Submit a deposit (30% of the total price) to secure your slot

Once I’ve received the deposit, your session is officially confirmed! 🎉

To help you prepare, I’ll then send you a Welcome Guide—a PDF gathering tips on choosing outfits, preparing your kids for the session, and making the experience as fun and stress-free as possible!

Of course, if you have any questions along the way, don’t hesitate to reach out!

It’s finally here! We’ll meet at the designated location, take a moment to get comfortable, and then dive right in.

For family sessions with young children, I usually start with photos of the whole family, so little ones can warm up to the camera—especially if they want to be held up in the beginning of the session.

Why do I call my style "lifestyle photography"? Because I focus on capturing candid moments rather than overly posed smiles! I prefer genuine belly laughs and natural interactions over the traditional look-at-the-camera kind of poses. To achieve that, I’ll usually give you some directions to start somewhere, but I’ll encourage you to move freely and make the moment your own so everything feels natural. During family sessions with young children, the best way to capture natural smiles and giggles is through play rather than posing. So, be prepared for some fun and silliness! I’ll encourage kids to move around, explore, and express their personalities freely.

What if the weather doesn’t cooperate? If you've booked an outdoor session and the forecast predicts rain 24 hours in advance, don't worry! I won’t ask you to put on your rain boots and power through. Instead, I’ll contact you to reschedule for a better day.

4- After the Session

Once your session is complete, I’ll carefully edit your photos and deliver them through a private online gallery.
You'll then be able to:

  • View and download your images in high-resolution.

  • Share your album with family and friends using a password-protected link.

Here’s what you can expect in terms of photo delivery:

  • Full portrait session (50 minutes): A minimum of 30 photos.

  • Newborn session (90 minutes): A minimum of 40 photos.

Sharing is caring! If you post your photos on Instagram, I’d be incredibly grateful if you tagged my account! It’s a great way to support my work and allows me to celebrate these beautiful moments with you. 🤍
